CORPUS CHRISTI – Chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission, Christi Craddick has announced her endorsement of Bech Bruun for Congress in Congressional District 27 saying she looks forward to working with Bruun on federal issues that will enhance U.S. energy independence.
Craddick, the state’s highest ranking female elected official, said she has known Bruun since she worked with him when he served as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Texas’ “Victory” effort in 2008. More recently, she worked closely with Bruun when he served as Chairman of the Texas Water Development Board to advance water policy in Texas that supports both energy development and water conservation.
“I know first-hand the commitment Bech has shown to the Republican grassroots of Texas,” Craddick said. “Bech is a proven, effective leader which comes at a time when Congressional District 27 has critical oil and gas related infrastructure needs such as the Port of Corpus Christi’s channel improvement project. I can’t think of a candidate who is better suited to lead on energy and water related projects at the national level.”
“I’m honored to have Chairman Craddick’s endorsement,” said Bruun. “It was a privilege working with her on the grassroots level to advance our conservative values by electing good Republicans to office. As the chair of the Texas Railroad Commission, Christi understands the importance of having a leader in Washington who has a proven track record of getting things done in the face of endless bureaucratic hurdles. I look forward to working with her by leading CD 27 towards a stronger economic climate that will grow our workforce and bolster our energy independence here at home.”
District 27 covers 13 counties including all of Nueces, Aransas, Refugio, Calhoun, Matagorda, Jackson, Wharton, Lavaca and Victoria counties. It also includes parts of San Patricio, Gonzales, Bastrop and Caldwell counties.
