Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb Endorses Bech Bruun For Congress In District 27

Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb endorsed Bech Bruun For Congress in District 27 today, noting his connections to the region and his “clear track record of getting things done.”

“Today Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend area are on the verge of economic growth and prosperity like we have never seen before,” McComb said. “That’s why it is important to elect someone who understands Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend– from the city’s major infrastructure projects, to its military installations and the impact of economic development on our entire region. That person is Bech Bruun.”

McComb was easily elected Mayor of Corpus Christi in 2016 in a competitive three-way race and has been active in the community for decades, serving two terms on the city council in the late 1980s and 1990s, followed by several terms as a Republican County Commissioner. He is the owner of McComb Relocation Services, a family owned business established in 1940.

“Mayor McComb is not just a familiar name in Corpus Christi, he is known all across District 27,” said Bruun, who has known McComb for years. “As mayor he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for hurricane relief efforts that he spread over several counties and cities in District 27. Previously, as the founder of Operation Paintbrush, he helped paint and repair over 1800 homes in the Coastal Bend with no cost to the homeowner.”

McComb said that Bruun helped save the city millions of dollars on its water infrastructure during his tenure as Chairman of the Texas Water Development Board and worked on key projects for the area while working for Gov. Rick Perry, Gov. Greg Abbott and State Rep. Todd Hunter.

“Bech was born and raised in Corpus Christi and has lived in Congressional District 27 most of his life,” McComb said. “His family has been in Corpus Christi for 40 years. I know Bech personally. I know what kind of leader he is, and I am excited by the prospect of Bech representing his hometown in the U.S. Congress.”

District 27 covers 13 counties including all of Nueces, Aransas, Refugio, Calhoun, Matagorda, Jackson, Wharton, Lavaca and Victoria counties. It also includes parts of San Patricio, Gonzales, Bastrop and Caldwell counties.
