Portland Mayor David Krebs who recently won the Republican primary to serve as the next San Patricio County Judge, announced today that he is endorsing Bech Bruun for Congress in the runoff campaign for Congressional District 27 citing his proven record of conservative leadership.
“San Patricio County is on the front lines of tremendous economic development stemming from the growth potential of the Port of Corpus Christi,” said Mayor Krebs. “With those opportunities will come challenges. That’s why we need experienced leadership in D.C., now more than ever. That’s why we need to elect Bech Bruun to Congress on May 22.”
“David Krebs is a longtime Republican leader in the Coastal Bend,” said Bruun. “His experience on the local level is an invaluable resource to our campaign and to all of San Patricio County. David has a strong background on rural and agriculture issues as well as knowing how to solve problems that face a growing city. We are excited he has become a part of Team Bech.”
Krebs was born in Corpus Christi and grew up on his parents’ farm east of Gregory, graduating from Gregory-Portland High School. After his term as Texas Farm Bureau State Director ended in 1997, David decided to run for City Council of the city of Portland, and served three 2-year terms as a Council Member. In 2004 he ran for Mayor where he is currently serving his seventh term.
David also served 20 years in the Portland Volunteer Fire Department before running for Council. He most recently won the Republican primary for County Judge but faces no Democrat opposition for the post in November. His term will begin January 2019.
David has been married to his wife, Vicki for 37 years, and has two sons, Matt (30) and Jeff (27), a daughter-in-law Emily, a grandson Jaxon and a granddaughter Rylee.
District 27 covers 13 counties including all of Nueces, Aransas, Refugio, Calhoun, Matagorda, Jackson, Wharton, Lavaca and Victoria counties. It also includes parts of San Patricio, Gonzales, Bastrop and Caldwell counties.
